UCOP3200 2024/2025 - Telemedicine Implementation for Tea Plantation Communities, Sri Lanka
Two Leaves Trust is embarking on a new initiative to provide healthcare access for the tea plantation community through the implementation of a telemedicine service.
The current healthcare system in the region faces significant challenges, including limited accessibility due to remote locations and mountainous terrain, transportation difficulties with poor pavement, long waiting times at hospitals, and a lack of personalized care resulting from overwhelming patient numbers. In response, this project aims to introduce a tele-medicine practise/workflow to bridge these gaps and bring quality healthcare directly to the local community. Our student would focus on implementing telemedicine in local setting with limited resources and youth education with Winrose International Campus in support for telemedicine delivery.

UCOP3200 2024/2025 - Community screening and healthcare outreach, Sri Lanka
Bio Tea Garden is a local fair trade producer of tea located in Haputale, run by Mr. Gnanasekaran. They are certified for organic tea and also manage the Two Leaves Trust foundation. Our students are dedicated to creating a sophisticated data management system by capturing and organizing detailed household and health data from tea estate communities in line with the Bio Tea company’s vision in community development, as well as enhancing our partners' program in community screening - home-based caregiving services by developing a practical hardware/software solution that tracks, evaluates, and improves the effectiveness of caregiving interventions.
