24/25 Community Health Technology Collaboration with Faculty of Medicine at the University of Kelaniya

This project collaboration brings together SIGHT students studying Design for Global Health UCOP3200 and undergraduates from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya participating in their Community Attachment Program(CAP) in brainstorming and integrating innovative technology ideas into their community intervention project. Here are the three significant projects developed by students as part of their CAP community level intervention. Each proposal addresses critical issues within the Pallelwela community, aiming to foster sustainable healthcare development and enhance the overall well-being of villagers. Project Scope: Community-Driven Waste Management, Water Drinking Habits Improvement, Nutritional Awareness for Health and Well-being The objective is to brainstorm and integrate innovative technology solutions into community intervention projects of CAP that address community level health challenges. By working closely together, the students will identify specific health issues within the community and explore different formats of interventions. These include application of technologies, health awareness programs and culturally sensitive alert system development etc. The project will emphasize the importance of community engagement and cultural sensitivity throughout the design process, ensuring that the solutions developed are relevant and practical. By integrating the medical students' knowledge of health systems and patient care with the design students' innovative thinking, the project aims to create impactful solutions that improve health outcomes of CAP.
