Behavioral Change Interventions of Workers in Pai, Thailand
Thailand is home to a significant number of low-income workers who often struggle to find meaningful ways to spend their idle time. Due to financial constraints and limited resources, these individuals may face difficulties in accessing recreational facilities, educational opportunities, and other activities that can contribute to their overall well-being. Engaging in healthy behaviors during idle time is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health, reducing stress, and enhancing overall quality of life.
Challenges to tackle
After visiting Pai, observations concluded that the workers are less aware of the opportunities for self-improvement and goal setting. Language learning set a perfect example of the lack of actual skills and techniques to enhance their job performance. While English is not a common language to the local workers, poor English is found to be a major barrier for local workers to communicate in a tourist-dense area.
Project description
The aim of the project is to develop a system that integrates into workers’ daily habits to optimize the opportunity to learn. English learning was chosen as a goal for the group to research on. The group will provide educational materials, self-improvement workshops and supporting materials to help them achieve the goal of speaking English fluently.
