Social Integration Program for Ethnic Minority Teens in Hong Kong

workshop planningChinese teachingHong Kongethnic minoritiesteens

Hong Kong, as a diverse city, is home to a significant population of ethnic minorities who often face cultural and social barriers. This project recognizes the importance of fostering inclusivity and providing support to these teenagers, promoting their active participation and integration into society.

Challenges to tackle

Ethnic minority kids in Hong Kong face a common challenge of learning the Cantonese and Chinese language. This limits their access to information, creates communication barriers and becomes a major obstacle for them to excel in schools that use Chinese as a medium to teach.

Project description

The aim of the project is to develop a motivational system that includes workshops and games that help the EM kids to establish interest in self-learning Chinese. Meanwhile, the collaboration with Christian Action acts as a platform for the team to reach the actual user and as a prototype to polish their ideas.
